Drug Checking

What The Loop say about their monthly drug-checking service:

The Loop's regular drug checking service, the first in the UK, takes place every last Saturday of the month in Bristol. The Loop team, chemists and healthcare staff, complete drug testing in our mobile laboratory and provide harm reduction advice and consultations informed by the testing of submitted substances. Everyone is welcome to use the service and to drop-in to meet and speak with The Loop.

Members of the public can submit a substance for testing at Bristol Drug Project in Brunswick Square (look for the pink door). This is an anonymous service and no name needs to be provided. A brief assessment, related to the use of the submitted drug will be completed, and this informs the information that can be shared following the laboratory testing. This all takes place within an hour of submitting the substance, and there is an opportunity to speak openly and receive non-judgmental and factual information regarding drugs and harm reduction advice with a member of The Loop's healthcare team. Where there is a dependency on the submitted substance we are able to support people in engaging and receiving further services, accessing support and treatment.

Science of Psychedelics

The Science of Psychedelics with Dr David Luke

What Seed Talks are saying about their upcoming event:

The traditional use of psychoactive plants and fungi for spiritual and shamanic rituals has occurred for thousands of years, whereas the Western scientific research of these substances has only been explored in the last 100 years, and prohibition stalled the last 50 years of this.

In this talk you will be introduced to the science of these traditional psychedelics along with their modern counterparts first synthesized in the 20th century.

Now that scientific research is resuming, what do psychedelics tell us about the weirder side of human consciousness, and what can be learned from the traditional shamanic practices with these substances? Find this out and more in this enlightening talk…

Bristol PsySocial

Bristol PsySocial - Psychedelic Tradition in the Modern Age: Nature, Indigeneity & Reciprocity

What The Psychedelic Society say about their PsySocial events:

Come join us for an evening of fascinating discussion, yummy food, and connection. Our socials are an opportunity to explore and cross-pollinate ideas related to psychedelics and network with a community of like-minded others. Whether you have a background in mental health, previous experience with psychedelics, or are simply curious about other states of consciousness, all are welcome.

About this PsySocial:

We're living in a time of disconnect from the more-than-human world and place-based knowledge of our own lands. In this talk, philosopher and researcher Caspar Montgomery will question what it means to cultivate traditions and how to create modern-day psychedelic rituals that are fit for a world that is only going to get weirder. He will discuss our evolving relationship with nature, tradition, and indigenous wisdom in psychedelia and beyond.

Psy Cinema

Bristol Psychedelic Cinema Club: Dying To Know - Ram Dass & Timothy Leary

What The Psychedelic Society say about their event:

Dying to Know is an intimate portrait celebrating two very complex, controversial characters in an epic friendship that shaped a generation.

In the early 1960s, Harvard psychology professors Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert began probing the edges of consciousness through their experiments with psychedelics. Leary became the LSD guru, igniting a global counter-cultural movement and landing in prison after Nixon called him 'the most dangerous man in America.' Alpert, on the other hand, journeyed to the East, becoming Ram Dass, a spiritual teacher for an entire generation, teaching service through compassion.

With interviews spanning 50 years, Dying to Know invites us into the future, encouraging us to ponder questions about life, drugs & the biggest mystery of all: death.

We’ll be screening this movie at our upcoming psychedelic cinema club night. In a post-screening discussion, there will be an opportunity to chat about and share perspectives on the film and its key themes.
