Science of Psychedelics

The Science of Psychedelics with Dr David Luke

What Seed Talks are saying about their upcoming event:

The traditional use of psychoactive plants and fungi for spiritual and shamanic rituals has occurred for thousands of years, whereas the Western scientific research of these substances has only been explored in the last 100 years, and prohibition stalled the last 50 years of this.

In this talk you will be introduced to the science of these traditional psychedelics along with their modern counterparts first synthesized in the 20th century.

Now that scientific research is resuming, what do psychedelics tell us about the weirder side of human consciousness, and what can be learned from the traditional shamanic practices with these substances? Find this out and more in this enlightening talk…

SPM Conference

The Spirit Plant Medicine Conference

What SPM Conference say about their event:

Life on planet Earth is changing faster than most of us could possibly have imagined only a few short years ago. The need for new (and ancient) visions of wisdom and compassion is greater than ever. When understood and used in optimal conditions and effectively integrated into the daily walk, the psychedelic, sacramental healing and awakening plants and related substances are arguably the most potent allies and tools available to struggling humanity in these tumultuous times.

But these powerful substances are not the story itself. At their best they are in service of this overarching vision and urgent need for a “turning of the wheel.” We at the Spirit Plant Medicine Conference are passionately committed to providing a platform for the sharing of insight and wisdom toward this vision and prayer for humanity, for all inhabitants of the planet, and for the Earth itself.

One of the defining and all but unique features of the beloved SPMC is its diversity and its range of perspectives on psychedelics and consciousness transformation. Each year we have a more or less equal balance of female and male presenters with significant indigenous and BIPOC representation. Our speakers have included ceremonialists, therapists, philosophers, mystics, advocates, activists, and academics – always with a keen eye on sharing “actionable” information and inspiration for individual and collective healing for a planet in transition.

Science of Psychedelics

The Science of Psychedelics with Neuroscientist Maria Balaet

What Seed Talks are saying about their event:

Psychedelic drugs have a tumultuous history. Indigenous communities have used them for healing and visionary experiences for thousands of years. More recently, they were discovered by the Western society and became central to social and artistic movements in the 1960’s… before being banned worldwide.

Now psychedelics are back in the spotlight and entering the mainstream, with clinical trials exploring their therapeutic use for mental health disorders like depression, anxiety and addiction. Groundbreaking science has uncovered that these substances have effects on the brain, affecting connectivity patterns that govern day-to-day functioning.

This talk will cover the key findings coming from contemporary research with psychedelics, and hint at what is next in store for psychedelic science and the potential impact on society at large…

Eurotas

What the organisers are saying about their upcoming conference:

“Creative bridges” are spaces where we transcend the restrictive and regressive forces that confront us in what is clearly a transitional age. By forging new connections, we create paths that may lead us wisely into the next phase of cultural and spiritual evolution.

Bridges lie at the core of our work as practitioners, researchers, and scholars. We bridge across cultures, across academic disciplines, between the science and practice of spirituality. We draw on ancient spiritual, mystical, and shamanic traditions, forging bridges to contemporary inquiry in areas of psychology, sociology, anthropology, ecology, and the study of consciousness – to name but a few! Our visions for this conference include bridges into the future, that we might pass on to coming generations wiser and more wholesome ways of being in community with one another and with all life on earth. We bridge between theory and practice, weaving holistic and transpersonal insights into the quest to nurture social and cultural change, to evolve our humanity beyond individualistic, mechanistic, and egocentric values.

Come … participate in Creative Bridges 2024 and together we can build this gateway, a space for dreaming and shared emergence!

Maudsley Integration

The Maudsley Psychedelic Society Integration Group

What Maudsley Psychedelic Society say about their events:

The Maudsley Psychedelic Society Integration Group provides a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space for those who have used psychedelics or are considering using them. The group is for people who are struggling to make sense of a challenging psychedelic experience, wishing to share a meaningful one or simply interested in learning more about psychedelics and meeting like-minded people.

The group is facilitated by therapists and clinicians who work with psychedelics in clinical trial settings. We aim to provide a safe, confidential, friendly and comfortable space where people can be open about their experiences and share them with others who may help them achieve a more integrated understanding. We acknowledge that the recreational use of psychedelics continues despite a long history of criminalisation. The group does not encourage or condone recreational use but we do provide harm minimisation interventions and psychoeducation to those who make their own choice to do this.

Science Of Psychedelics

The Science of Psychedelics with Dr. David Luke

In this talk you will be introduced to the science of these traditional psychedelics along with their modern counterparts first synthesised in the 20th century. Dr. Luke will also touch upon the mental health applications for these drugs.

Now that scientific research is resuming, what do psychedelics tell us about the weirder side of human consciousness, and what can be learned from the traditional shamanic practices with these substances? Find this out and more in this enlightening talk.

Rave The Planet Parade

What Rave The Planet are saying about their 2024 parade:

The Rave The Planet Parade is Germany's largest techno parade. In 2022 and 2023, around 300,000 people took part in each demonstration. The aim was to stand up for the preservation of electronic music and club culture, to express appreciation for its cultural and social significance, and to send out a signal for peace. Our form of political expression is through music, as a means of understanding, and dancing together.

The name “Rave The Planet” reflects our belief in the power of electronic music and rave culture to bring people together and inspire positive change. Step by step, we aim to deepen understanding and increase public acceptance of this culture.

Not psy-specific, but broad enough to include all EDM tribes, and how could anyone need much convincing to get behind a cause like this… ;)

Drug Checking

What The Loop say about their monthly drug-checking service:

The Loop's regular drug checking service, the first in the UK, takes place every last Saturday of the month in Bristol. The Loop team, chemists and healthcare staff, complete drug testing in our mobile laboratory and provide harm reduction advice and consultations informed by the testing of submitted substances. Everyone is welcome to use the service and to drop-in to meet and speak with The Loop.

Members of the public can submit a substance for testing at Bristol Drug Project in Brunswick Square (look for the pink door). This is an anonymous service and no name needs to be provided. A brief assessment, related to the use of the submitted drug will be completed, and this informs the information that can be shared following the laboratory testing. This all takes place within an hour of submitting the substance, and there is an opportunity to speak openly and receive non-judgmental and factual information regarding drugs and harm reduction advice with a member of The Loop's healthcare team. Where there is a dependency on the submitted substance we are able to support people in engaging and receiving further services, accessing support and treatment.

Psychedelic Integration & Psychosynthesis

What Psychosynthesis Trust are saying about their upcoming workshop:

Psychedelic substance use and interest is growing worldwide, spurred on by a second wave of research into their potential use for treating a variety of mental health conditions. Recent clinical trials results suggest that psychedelics hold promise in the treatment of anxiety disorders, addiction, depression, eating disorders and death anxiety in terminally ill patients. Although psychedelic substances have yet to be approved for medical use in the UK, many therapists have noticed that their clients are increasingly interested in discussing psychedelics and psychedelic experiences in therapy.

This workshop is open to qualified therapists, counsellors, and health practitioners, as well as those interested in learning more about psychedelic integration as seen through a psychosynthesis lens.
