Drug Checking

What The Loop say about their monthly drug-checking service:

The Loop's regular drug checking service, the first in the UK, takes place every last Saturday of the month in Bristol. The Loop team, chemists and healthcare staff, complete drug testing in our mobile laboratory and provide harm reduction advice and consultations informed by the testing of submitted substances. Everyone is welcome to use the service and to drop-in to meet and speak with The Loop.

Members of the public can submit a substance for testing at Bristol Drug Project in Brunswick Square (look for the pink door). This is an anonymous service and no name needs to be provided. A brief assessment, related to the use of the submitted drug will be completed, and this informs the information that can be shared following the laboratory testing. This all takes place within an hour of submitting the substance, and there is an opportunity to speak openly and receive non-judgmental and factual information regarding drugs and harm reduction advice with a member of The Loop's healthcare team. Where there is a dependency on the submitted substance we are able to support people in engaging and receiving further services, accessing support and treatment.

Psychedelic Aftershock

Psychedelics & Existential Crises - Navigating Psychedelic Aftershock

What the Psychedelic Society are saying about their upcoming event:

Psychedelics can offer profound, mind-opening experiences, but they can also shake our foundational ground, our sense of reality and sense of self, to its core. In a recent study we explored the experiences of 26 people who faced deep existential distress after a psychedelic journey—confusion about the meaning of life, identity, and their place in the world. These experiences affected their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and their physical well-being.

Join us for an open conversation about navigating the complexities of psychedelic experiences with care, curiosity, and connection.

Funghi: Web Of Life

What the organisers are saying about their upcoming event:

Embark on a fascinating two-part journey into the hidden world of fungi with renowned biologist, writer and speaker Merlin Sheldrake.

The first half of this event will feature a rare screening of the award-winning IMAX film Fungi: The Web of Life. Narrated by the iconic composer and singer Björk, this visually stunning film takes you on an exploration of fungi's profound impact on our world.

Following the film, Merlin will guide us deeper into the incredible connections and revelations revealed in the movie. Drawing on his extensive research and his award-winning book Entangled Life, he will share insights into how fungi shape our understanding of ecology and are essential to life itself. From the decomposition of organic matter and the formation of symbiotic relationships with plants, to how they can change our minds, heal our bodies and even help us avoid environmental disaster.

With the chance to ask Merlin your own questions, prepare to have your perception of life on Earth transformed as light is shed on the intricate, often overlooked world of fungi.

What The Psychedelic Society say about their PsySocial events:

Come join us for an evening of fascinating discussion, yummy food, and connection. We're living in a time of disconnect from the more-than-human world and place-based knowledge of our own lands. Psy Cinema

Bristol Psychedelic Cinema Club: Dying To Know - Ram Dass & Timothy Leary

What The Psychedelic Society say about their event:

Dying to Know is an intimate portrait celebrating two very complex, controversial characters in an epic friendship that shaped a generation.

In the early 1960s, Harvard psychology professors Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert began probing the edges of consciousness through their experiments with psychedelics. Leary became the LSD guru, igniting a global counter-cultural movement and landing in prison after Nixon called him 'the most dangerous man in America.' Alpert, on the other hand, journeyed to the East, becoming Ram Dass, a spiritual teacher for an entire generation, teaching service through compassion.

With interviews spanning 50 years, Dying to Know invites us into the future, encouraging us to ponder questions about life, drugs & the biggest mystery of all: death.

We’ll be screening this movie at our upcoming psychedelic cinema club night. In a post-screening discussion, there will be an opportunity to chat about and share perspectives on the film and its key themes.

Science of DMT

The Science of DMT & Ayahuasca with Dr. David Luke

What Seed Talks say about their event:

N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT), dubbed the ‘spirit molecule,’ is an extremely potent short acting psychedelic substance. It is found naturally in the human body and is abundant in other areas of nature. It has been theorised that DMT is released at birth, near-death experiences and even when we dream!

The traditional indigenous use of DMT in the Amazonian visionary decoction, ayahuasca, known as the ‘vine of the dead,’ has a long history of shamanic use to transcend time and space and communicate with the spirits of nature.

This talk explores the intersection between the scientific, therapeutic, psychonautic, and shamanic exploration of the DMT realm and attempts to fuse these disparate and yet overlapping cosmologies.

The Origins, History & Future of Psychedelics

The Origins, History & Future of Psychedelics with Darren Le Baron

What The Psychedelic Society have to say about their event:

In this thought-provoking presentation Darren will be sharing his extensive research on the origins of the indigenous usage of psychedelics.

Several communities use these sacred plants in their rites of passage, initiation ceremonies and daily rituals. We have discovered that when these groups left the African continent onto new pastures their practices travelled with them.

Darren will take you on a historical journey from the pre-historic ancient world and bring you into the here and now. He will also explore the current psychedelic renaissance (as some have coined it) and where we are potentially heading.
